Arabic Basics — short & practical
This is a compact guide to help you recognize common Qur'anic words and the Arabic alphabet's appearance. It's intentionally brief — focus on a few letters/words at a time.
Alphabet — first 7 letters (visual)
ا
Alif — sounds like "a"
ب
Ba — "b"
ت
Ta — "t"
ث
Tha — "th" (as in 'think')
ج
Jeem — "j"
ح
Ha (deep)
خ
Kha — throat sound
Tip: Arabic is written right-to-left. Start by learning letter shapes and short vowels (a, i, u).
Common Qur'anic words (very useful)
- Allah (الله) — The name of God
- Rabb (رب) — Lord, Sustainer
- Iman (إيمان) — Faith/belief
- Salat (صلاة) — Prayer
- Quran (القرآن) — The Qur'an
Knowing these words helps you quickly grasp short verses' themes.

- Pick one letter per day; write it, say its sound, and find a word with it.
- Memorize five Qur'anic words and their meanings.
